What Is the Community Living (CL) Waiver?
The Community Living (CL) Waiver is a Medicaid program that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live successfully in their homes and communities rather than in institutional settings. The waiver is designed to promote independence, choice, dignity, and full participation in everyday life.
CL Waiver services are individualized and based on each person’s strengths, needs, preferences, and goals. Supports may include assistance with daily living skills, personal care, medication support, health coordination, community engagement, employment supports, and residential services.
The CL Waiver serves children and adults who meet an institutional level of care and require ongoing supports to remain safe and stable in the community.
